Northeast organic shipper heads west to Monterey

Morning Kiss Organic is comprised of DiSilva Fruit, Gold Bell, and Arrowfarms, a family of companies serving New England and the Northeast for the last 50 years. Its facilities are used for packaging all varieties of potatoes, onions, citrus, vegetables and other commodities.

“From expertise in introducing new products to private label opportunities and distribution strategies, when a customer or vendor develops a relationship with Morning Kiss Organic they receive the best we have to offer,” says Nelly Czajkowski of Morning Kiss Organic.

The company has developed a network of grower partners that allows it to offer year-round programs and provide customers with consistent quality in a consistent label. Utilizing just-in-time deliveries allows Morning Kiss Organic to operate efficiently, maintaining freshness and optimizing the supply chain. By meeting consumer trends with smaller pack sizes, food waste can be reduced. Morning Kiss Organic manages demand by anticipating disruptions within the supply chain and market volatility.

The company is committed to sustainable packaging options and reducing plastic that sits in landfills.

“We put together year-round programs, handle logistics and develop private label packaging that meets consumer demands for sustainability,” says Alden Guptill.

In addition to its parent company Arrowfarms’ three production facilities within New England’s major food hub, the company now operates out of five distribution centers--Terra Bella, California; Chicago, Illinois; Tampa, Florida; Scranton, Pennsylvania; and Boston, Massachusetts.

Morning Kiss Organic offers packaging options that work for every retail format. Providing produce in a range of customizable formats reduces waste, provides economical options and ensures a faster turn for the retailer. “Reduced shrink, guaranteed organic ring, just-in-time inventory management – our programs can do it all,” says Mike Guptill.

By focusing on private brands and private label opportunities over highly marketed national brands, Morning Kiss Organic helps partners lower costs. “This is the perfect time to think creatively and strategically about private label products,” says Czajkowski.

Morning Kiss Organic is committed to sustainable packaging options and reducing plastic. The companies are utilizing several new packaging options – Bio Able bags, fiber-based Eco Boxes and 100 percent paper packaging. Bio-Able packaging is 100 percent degradable. This material breaks down within four years and bio-assimilates in terrestrial and marine environments. The company is also rolling out two different types of 100 percent fiber-based packaging – paperboard Eco Boxes and paper and sugar cane mesh packaging for potatoes. Both options are fully biodegradable and recyclable at the consumer level.

The company will exhibit at the Organic Produce Show July 12-13 at booth #212 and visitors to the booth can enter a raffle for a New England-themed gift basket.
