Taking place in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan

Good start for international trade fair Uzfood

The Uzfood fair started today, 26 March 2024, in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Some operators who are present with a stand, including Omar Papi of the Italian company Futura srl, confirm that the start is promising. The fair takes place from 26 to 28 March. "We are noticing a good influx of visitors," says Papi, "despite the political situation caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. And the bombing a few days ago does not help either'.

This whole market area was affected first by the Covid situation, then by the political tensions, 'but despite this, investments in the fruit and vegetable sector continue, albeit cautiously. Our fruit and vegetable sorting technologies are also appreciated because of all the on-site services we provide'. Papi confirms that there are many Asian exhibitors, including many from China. From Europe there are not many, and most come from Germany.

Futura Srl has an office in Tashkent, of the company Futura Central Asia, dedicated to following both Uzbekistan and the neighbouring countries. "Our presence here," he adds, "is consistent with the strategy we have adopted for the second quarter of the year, which is to have our customers around the world buy our calibration lines at reasonable prices.

Inside the fair

"Already in the past we have decided not to burden customers with all the increases in raw materials and services that we have had. This choice has been greatly appreciated and we now have a considerable number of customers in this geographical area."

"Futura constantly follows all the CIS markets with great interest and with a direct office in Tashkent, Uzbekistan," Papi concludes. "To date, in addition to the more developed countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, the countries that have given us the greatest results and great satisfaction are Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which are highly specialised in the production of apples, apricots and table grapes.

'The fair testifies that this geographical area is growing strongly,' Papi concludes, 'and should be followed with particular attention.'
