Fresh Del Monte is excited to share the remarkable progress it has made on the road to achieving key 2030 goals the company committed to with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)– goals that have become increasingly more urgent as the U.S. and countries across the globe experience intense heat waves and drought conditions. The global marketer of fruits and vegetables committed to SBTi in 2020 and has already reduced greenhouse gas emissions for scope 1 and 2 by 22 percent compared with its 2019 baseline through operational enhancements, including the purchase of six more efficient vessels meeting stringent emission control regulations.
With the addition of the new vessels, Fresh Del Monte estimates a savings of nearly 19 thousand metric tons of fuel each year. Significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions were also achieved in many of FDP’s facilities, including its poultry operation at NPC. Currently, the company is only 5.5 percentage points from its 2030 goals, which is the reduction of emissions by 27.5 percent--a goal it intends to surpass.
With the addition of the new vessels, Fresh Del Monte estimates a savings of nearly 19 thousand metric tons of fuel each year.
