14th annual AMHPAC convention, a chance to firm up pending business

More than 300 industry leaders are expected to attend this year’s AMHPAC’s (Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture) annual convention. The 14th edition of the show will take place from August 24 to 26 at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta for representatives of the produce industry and the supply chain, public officials, researchers, and consultants, including experts on the Tomato Suspension Agreement.

Alfredo Diaz, AMHPAC CEO, says the annual convention sets the stage to strengthen relationships between leaders through events such as the member’s annual general meeting, the trade show, grower-marketer matchmaking, and more. “We are excited to meet with the main representatives of the different links in the production and distribution chain of Mexican vegetables, who throughout the day will listen to experts in the most relevant topics of the industry,” says Diaz. The convention will also feature numerous topics that are on the minds of growers and shippers today. These include the importance of Chapter 23 of the T-MEC, the problems and solutions around water issues in Mexico; new markets for vegetables; sustainability, and retail trends. The convention will close with Enrique Quintana, vice-president and general editorial director of El Financiero, who will share some economic perspectives on the current socio-political environment.

Opportunities for 2022
The convention comes in a year when most trade shows have returned to in-person. “At the 2021 convention, the reunion of business people who had not seen each other for a long time was enjoyed. It was very emotional to see how everyone connected, and we felt that these types of events are very necessary for the industry,” says Diaz. “In this edition, we believe it will be the perfect opportunity for participants to consolidate the pending business.”

Of course, the convention also offers up some fun via a welcome cocktail, a 5K race, a Rock Beach party, and more. “All activities at the convention are important,” says Diaz. “However, we are committed to shaking up the way of doing business, and we believe this meeting will allow attendees to generate new strategies and ideas to manage their companies.”

Registration is still open for the upcoming event.
