Rodolphe Kouamé, Terra Company

“The Ivorian mango season looks promising”

Terra Company, a company specializing in the import of tropical fruits from West Africa (mangoes, pineapples, dried fruits and soon, coconuts), is starting the mango campaign from Ivory Coast, a little later than usual. "We are looking forward to this new campaign, which starts with mangoes shipped by boat, followed by mangoes shipped by plane about two weeks later," explains Rodolphe Kouamé, CEO of the company.

6 to 8 weeks of campaign
The 2024 mango campaign from Ivory Coast looks promising. "Weather conditions have been much more favorable than last year. We have had plenty of rain, which has enabled the fruit to ripen optimally on the trees. The season will last 6 to 8 weeks at most for some, before the rainy season in June. At the end of the season, there is a risk of disease with the arrival of fruit flies, which can infect the fruit and compromise the quality of the mangoes."

Quality as a priority
Preferring to put an end to the campaign rather than take the risk of offering products of less than optimal quality is an important point from which the company does not waver. "We work closely with local suppliers to guarantee a transparent and ethical supply chain. Our aim is to satisfy importers, processors and wholesalers looking for quality exotic products. This year, we expected approximately ten containers during the campaign, but this can change according to the demand from our clients."

The Kent variety, appreciated for its taste and visual qualities
Each year, our clients eagerly await the first mangoes from Ivory Coast. "The mangoes are very much appreciated and eagerly awaited by consumers, because of their exotic flavor, freshness and quality. Our clients are familiar with the Kent mango, which is highly appreciated for several reasons. First of all, its sweet, juicy flesh and low fiber content make it particularly pleasant to eat. Its skin also has a lovely yellow-orange shine when ripe, making it a very attractive fruit on the shelves. Finally, the Kent mango has a small stone, offering a higher proportion of flesh than other varieties."

Developing strong partnerships with producers in West Africa
Although Terra Company does not own any plantations, the company's strength lies in its in-depth knowledge of the country and its growers. "We have established strong relationships with the best local growers, giving us access to the highest quality fruit. As an intermediary, we are committed to selecting the best products for our clients, in order to meet their requirements in terms of freshness, flavor and quality. Our commitment to excellence and our expertise in the field make Terra Company an unrivaled choice for our clients' exotic fruit needs. Eventually, we would like to have our own production, but for the moment, we focus on developing strong partnerships with local producers in West Africa. This enables us to source quality mangoes while supporting local farming communities."
