Organic apples from Poland have been in good demand this season, as the crop was sold faster than it was in the previous year, says Anna Gabler, commercial director of Agro Queens Sp. z o.o.:
"Our apple season has been quite a different one compared to the previous year. For one, we've had less volumes of apples available to us, and on top of that the crop was sold faster than in normal years. Looking at the sales of our organic apples specifically, there has been an interesting trend. We've seen that the industry sector has taken 20 per cent less apples, while the Class 1 apples sales have increased by 30 per cent. This means that at the end of the day, we are still quite satisfied with our organic apple season."
Although demand is still rather strong, Gabler emphasizes they've already run out of stock and are focussing on the development for next season. "Current demand for organic apples is still strong, but we can't fulfil the demand as our crop has completely finished. For us as a company, the Gala apples have been the best variety, so it has remained our queen, so to say. In terms of acreage, we are developing our consortium, but only based on our regular growers. These growers have been with us since the beginning of Agro Queens. We also develop ourselves outside of acreage alone, as we implement more efficient solutions to plan both the sales as well as production. Overall, we hope for more stable and regular business in this fast moving reality surrounding us," she concludes.
