Photo Report: Asia Fruit Logistica 2023

Asia Fruit Logistica took place in Hong Kong again for the first time since 2019. It was deemed a success by many exhibitors and attendees despite closing a day earlier due to heavy rain and flooding in the city.

More than 700 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions showcased their offerings. Over 200 Chinese companies were exhibiting, with over a hundred from other Asian countries. The show organisers and attendees were happy to see so many Chinese companies back at the show after a smaller presence last year in Bangkok. The fair attracted wide interest from attendees from across the Asia region.

Exhibitors from around the world said they were happy with the interest from retail and wholesale buyers with many good meetings held during the show. Producers and exporters from for example South Africa and South America used the time in the Far East to also visit other Asian countries, either before or after the show.

Some Hong Kong based importers arranged short retail visits for Vietnamese exporters to see what fruit is available on the local market. There was plenty of fruit available for tasting at many stands that included a wide selection of table grapes, blueberries, stone fruit and exotics, which the Asian visitors enjoyed to taste and photograph.

Brazil had a smaller country pavilion, but they said it reflects the level of activity in the East, which they are hoping to grow. The Chilean and Peruvian country pavilions were hubs of activity over the two days as the cherry and blueberries as well as table grapes were discussed with Asian buyers. U.S. and Canadian exhibitors were also pleased with the turn out and interest as well as opportunity to showcase what fruit and vegetables and solutions they can offer the Asian markets.

The overall feedback was that the show in Hong Kong is truly back, with most business, fortunately, having been concluded over the first two days.
