Monitoring quarantine products at the Upper Lars checkpoint in Russia

From January 1 to April 23, 2024, the Upper Lars checkpoint of the North Caucasus Interregional Department of the Federal Service Rosselkhoznadzor monitored 42,000 tons of imported quarantine products. Over 34,500 tons remained in the territory of the Russian Federation, while approximately 7,500 tons transited to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

During this period, the highest import volume was apples, totalling 11,440 tons, with the majority originating from Armenia (10,500 tons). Mandarins followed closely, sourced from Georgia (10,020 tons) and Turkey (970 tons). Additionally, Russia imported 2,300 tons of tomatoes from Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. Nuts also made the top four popular imports, with 1,390 tons, primarily from Georgia (742 tons).

Furthermore, grapes, cucumbers, kiwis, dried fruits, cabbage, bay leaves, fresh herbs, zucchinis, and lemons were imported.

In comparison, during the same period in 2023, 28,900 tons of quarantine products crossed the border.
