FAO is set to bolster Moldova's table grape sector

FAO is set to bolster Moldova's table grape sector through its "One Country, One Priority Product" (OCOP) initiative.

A significant stride in this direction was marked by the signing of a $350,000 technical assistance project between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, and FAO Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Raimund Jehle.

Bolea emphasized that this collaboration with FAO aligns perfectly with the government's commitment to promote innovative and sustainable agricultural practices. He stressed that the agreement would fortify the entire value chain within the table grape sector, promoting smart, sustainable, and climate-resilient agriculture while expanding local markets and bolstering export potential.

Jehle echoed Bolea's sentiments, asserting that this support aims to address pressing issues and lay a robust foundation for enhancing the sustainability and profitability of Moldova's table grape industry. FAO's OCOP initiative aids nations in identifying and nurturing value chains for unique agricultural products.

Moldova, annually producing over 130,000 tons of grapes, with 60% allocated for export, stands to benefit significantly from this collaboration.
