Evacuation orders in Victoria's west as fire threatens communities

Victoria's west is facing a severe wildfire crisis, with a significant blaze rapidly advancing towards numerous towns, prompting evacuation orders for over 30 communities. The inferno, raging between Ballarat and Ararat on Bayindeen-Rocky Road at Bayindeen in the Pyrenees Ranges, has mobilized at least 1000 firefighters to combat the out-of-control situation exacerbated by perilous fire conditions, including high temperatures and strong winds.

VicEmergency has urgently advised residents of the affected areas, including Ballyrogan, Bayindeen, and Beaufort among others, to evacuate immediately to avoid imminent danger. "Leaving immediately is the safest option, before conditions become too dangerous," they emphasized, warning that emergency services might not reach those choosing to stay. The state's Premier, Jacinta Allan, highlighted the gravity of the situation, noting the fire's rapid eastward movement and its threat to homes, lives, and properties. With the fire already covering 5000 hectares and aid from 24 aircraft, the next few hours are critical for the region's safety.
