The Fresh Food Leader event goes beyond expectations

International B2B meetings with large-scale retail buyers: over 250 meetings

The second edition of the Fresh Food Leader event in Bergamo "International Business meetings with buyers of large-scale retailers" has been concluded.

Compared to last year's edition, more retailers and producers have participated in the event confirming the importance of the event on the national and international scene.

"Great event, perfect organization and good quality time for talking with the fresh fruit and vegetables buyers from retailers during the Fresh Food Leader event. The event was very well organized. What makes it stand apart from other events is that meetings are not left to chance but organized in advance. This is very practical." – states Daria Reich, co-owner of Agrinorm Ltd. from Switzerland.

"I participated for the second time after Warsaw in the Fresh Food Leader B2B meetings, this time in in Bergamo. And again the day was very helpful to get new contacts with international retailers and wholesalers to distribute our OZblu blueberries in Europe", says Susanne R. Knobloch, Sales Manager Europe of United Exports, operating in Australia, South Africa, Mexico, UK and Germany.

"Our third time participating in the Fresh Food Leader´s event, always a nice appointment on my calendar. Interesting and well curated meeting space." – says Juan Jose Ibarra Ortega commerciale from Moyca Grapes SL specialised in seedless grapes.

"The B2B Event organized by Fresh Food Leader on the 25th January in Bergamo, was a source of great satisfaction for the Belgian exporter BEL'Export." – says Tony Derwael, the CEO of BEL'Export, one of the main producers and exporters of Pears and Apples of Belgian origin. "Thanks to this event the company could deepen and widen our already excellent contacts, both from Italy and from all over the rest of Europe. The event was well organized and the buyers were of excellent professionality, covering a wide geographical and commercial area, each with different, interesting requirements. The foreseen timing of the event was overall respected with intelligent flexibility and in a very welcoming environment, which led to a relaxed, transparent and rapid meeting: the best mix for good potential to unfold.

The strategic position of the location also allowed us to visit the Wholesale Market in Milan and a local "tailor selected" client base, having direct and focused access to the different distribution channels and actors." - concludes Nicola Zanotelli, from BEL'Export.

"I wanted to express our sincere gratitude for the great business meeting we had in Bergamo. The meticulous planning and execution truly were on point, making it a seamless and productive experience." – says Sophia Dayekh, Sales Manager from Westfalia Marketing BV, The Netherlands. "The choice of venue was ideal, offering all the necessities and central facilities. Moreover, the attention to detail in ensuring a smooth flow of the agenda and the proactive approach to addressing any concerns, demonstrated a commitment to excellence. I appreciate the effort that went into making this meeting a success. It undoubtedly strengthened our professional relationships and contributed to our collective goals. Looking forward to more Fresh Food Leader meetings in the future." – concludes Sophia Dayekh.

"We had the chance to talk with principal buyers of some European supermarkets. Also, we had time to discuss some topics and matters that are always important." – says Andreu Monrabal, Europe Sales Manager of Fruta de Autor SL from Spain. "This kind of event is more direct than the usual fairs. Normally, during trade fairs, we meet with existing customers and everything takes place in a frenetic context, leaving little time to go deeper into the various topics. During this event we had more time, so we could exchange more ideas."

"The participating buyers were interested in us (producers). Obviously not all buyers are going to be interested in your products but, as I said, we had more time to check if we are really on the same page or not."

"Meetings were about 15/20 minutes. It was enough time to know each other needs. Also, it was good that, during the lunch and dinner breaks you could also talk with buyers and ask some questions that maybe you couldn't during the meeting. I worked with two of the retailers, it was also nice to see them. There were also new potential customers and it is always good to know and meet new potential customers".

"What makes the Fresh Food Leader event stands out ahead of other fairs is that the event is focused more directly on customers. We had more time to express and exchange any idea, thought or doubt. Thus I recommend it. To have the chance to speak with principals, managers and buyers of supermarkets is always a good idea!" – concludes Andreu Monrabal.

"The Fresh Food Leader event has been very interesting and useful for us," says Micol Ranieri, of Società Agricola S. Francesco di Tiraboschi Jessica & C. S. from Ferrara in Italy. "It was also unexpectedly pleasant to meet other producers present at the meeting, with whom we exchanged ideas, methods of working, feelings about new trends of the fruit and vegetable market and contacts for future collaboration." – concludes Micol Ranieri.

The large-scale retail buyers, on the other hand, appreciated the quality of the event organised by Fresh Food Leader: the modality of the event, the schedule of the meetings, the diversity and quality of the participating companies, as well as the presence of direct producers and the representatives for overseas products. Some buyers confirmed that they have concluded negotiations that they had started previously; or they have expanded their assortment with suppliers they have been already working with. Moreover, they have established relationships with new suppliers. Some buyers have even agreed on deliveries in the week following the event.

The event was also attended by Italian and foreign importing companies, companies developing new varieties and packaging machine producers. It is an exclusive way to see the big news in preview; a good training ground also for young people, who have the opportunity to dialogue directly both with the buyers of the chains and with the managers of other companies.
