The Yummy Fruit Company celebrated 20 million apples packed with the Aporo robotic produce packer this month. The company from Havelock North was the first in New Zealand to invest in Aporo robotic technology in 2018.
The Paynter family have led innovation in the field for 160 years, with the fifth generation of the family currently growing and marketing the Yummy produce. The Aporo robotic produce packer is designed and manufactured in New Zealand by Robotics Plus and distributed globally by Global Pac Technologies. One robot can replace up to two employees.
“It was really no surprise that the Paynter’s were the first to invest in this technology in New Zealand with their track record of innovation. As usual, the Yummy Fruit Company was blazing a trail, and we now see hundreds of Aporo robots deployed around the globe packing millions and millions of apples per year, with no labour involved,” said Cameron McInness, Director of Global Pac Technologies.
