Junior farmers get involved in harvesting 'Snackables'

On Saturday the 13th of April, Australian grower Harvest Moon opened the
doors of their Tasmanian facility to the public. In honour of the humble carrot and
International Carrot Day, Harvest Moon celebrated their annual Carrot Festival, now
in its fifth year. Advocates for public education on the benefits of fresh produce and
the process behind farm to plate. The event gave families the opportunity to tour the
vast farm factory facilities and gain an insight into how fresh produce is washed,
sorted, and packaged ready for market.

"The carrot, which plays a role in food security in many countries, is certainly one of
the most utilised vegetables purchased by Australian families, and Harvest Moon's
contribution of carrots to the marketplace continues to grow," explain Nathan Bischa. "Their reach is now moving beyond Australian tables to international families in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Pacific Islands."

Harvest Moon is also home to the 'Snackables' brand, a growing range of vegetables
offering a healthier convenience choice. The brand is spearheaded by a specially
developed seed for a smaller, sweeter, and highly nutritious snacking carrot, which
has found great popularity among the Australian public.

"We had perfect weather and record numbers this year, with people
gathering to see machinery displays, and indulge in an Aussie BBQ, face painting
and carrot hunts, among other activities. The tours proved to be as popular as
previous years and were booked out, while the children's purposely planted field of
'Snackables Carrots' was harvested almost bare by the junior 'farmers for a day'.
Enjoying an abundance of positive public reviews, the company has been grateful for
the feedback and is looking forward to a repeat performance next year."
