Last weekend, Green Specialties celebrated its 25th anniversary. Adrie and Hennie van de Einden founded this Dutch company in 1999. With the addition of their children Noralie, Corné, and Kayleigh, it has evolved into a family business. Within Green Specialties, a team cultivates, processes, and sells spinach, arugula, and baby leaf.
"Thanks to this short supply chain, we can deliver to our end customer within 24 hours after harvesting. In the early years, we grew and packaged only spinach. Later, we added products like arugula and various types of baby leaf. That means we can now call ourselves leafy greens specialists," begins Noralie van den Einden.
Three days were dedicated to celebrating this anniversary with customers, business relations, colleagues, friends, and family. "It was an opportunity to reflect on our milestones and innovations and to share our vision. The festivities kicked off on Friday with a special afternoon for our clients and business partners. We inspired and indulged them with delicious snacks made from our products. As their senses were being tantalized, we took them through the milestones we've achieved over the quarter century."
Laser Weeder
"We re-emphasized our vision and let guests share in our enthusiasm for an innovation we're pleased to welcome: the laser weeder. Carbon Robotics' Sales Director Brad Westcott explained this machine's ins and outs," says Noralie.
"We look forward to the upcoming season when we'll use this innovation in our cultivation. Bernd Feenstra, Rabobank's Horticulture Sector Manager, also presented a future outlook for the sector. Moderator Helga van Leur seamlessly connected all the speakers. The day concluded with a company tour and a reception."
"On Saturday, the festivities took the form of a celebratory evening, where colleagues, partners, friends, and family came together to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Sunday was dedicated to family, where colleagues and their friends and family could take a look inside our organization. Guests had the chance to experience the passion and dedication behind our products and processes," Noralie continues.
"As we reflect on these special days, we realize our success isn't only due to our products but especially the people involved with Green Specialties.
