Chile significantly contributes to the international fruit market

In the global economy, the export of fruit plays an important role. One South American country, Chile, is emerging prominently. This nation has positioned itself among the top five global fruit exporters, showcasing the vitality of its agricultural sector. According to Statista GmbH, Chile's achievement highlights its significant contribution to the international market, with exports surpassing US$7 billion, led by cherries, fresh plums, and grapes.

Recent statistics from the United Nations Statistics Division reveal a 40% growth in world fruit exports over the past decade, with projections to exceed US$137 billion in 2022. This marks a significant milestone in international trade. While the United States and a European country lead, Chile's performance has garnered attention, making it the only South American country in the top five, alongside the Netherlands, the United States, Spain, and Mexico. Notably, Mexico leads in Latin America, ranking third globally with exports over US$9,000 million.
