Untimely rains impact vegetable farming in Siddipet

Siddipet district experienced untimely rains this week, significantly impacting vegetable farmers. The adverse weather conditions, characterized by strong winds and hailstorms, resulted in substantial losses, particularly for those cultivating vegetables.

A case in point involves a Chandlapur village farmer who had invested Rs 300,000 in cultivating bitter gourd and ridge gourd over two acres. The severe weather destroyed his entire crop, leading to a complete loss of potential revenue. "I would get at least Rs 300,000 profit apart from Rs 150,000 investment since I would get 10 tons of vegetables for three months," the farmer stated, highlighting the financial impact of the weather event. The destruction extended beyond individual losses, with preliminary estimates indicating that vegetable crops across over 300 acres in Siddipet district were damaged, affecting approximately 400 farmers.
