HoneyCrunch puts on a show at Rungis

“Our next challenge is to open up the market with HoneyCrunch”

After the LoliPop apple, it was the HoneyCrunch's turn to put on a show at Rungis last week! Together with the Juliet, the three varieties are on a mission to represent the Innatis group to wholesalers. "We usually highlight our varieties but for this event, we decided to showcase Innatis alongside our wholesale partner Vinas," explains Alice Gianola, the company's communication manager.

HoneyCrunch, historic apple of Innatis
Innatis currently offers 4 exclusive apples that it regularly promotes, but the company has chosen to highlight the HoneyCrunch this year whenever the opportunity arises. "This is the first apple that embodied the Innatis group strategy, when we decided to develop our own varieties to ensure technical follow-up in production and marketing. It is a strategy that allows us to have homogeneity in harvesting and preservation, thanks to very strict specifications that guarantee the best quality for our clients. This strategy allows us to offer a diversified range of flavors, homogeneity in harvesting and preservation, and strict specifications that guarantee the best quality for our clients."

A "perfectly balanced" apple
Discovered in the United States in 1974, Innatis' historic apple has come a long way since then. "We selected it at the time because we wanted to bring something different and new to the French market. The HoneyCrunch variety met all the criteria we were looking for. Even today, no apple has the perfect balance of acidity and sugar. The HoneyCrunch has always stood out for its crunchiness and juiciness. It was our favorite at the time, and it remains the unanimous favorite today."

Harvest of 10,000 tons
Our choice seems to have paid off, according to the figures for this season. "For years now, production volumes have been rising steadily. Today, we have reached 10,000 tons in category 1. This is an early apple that can be found on the shelves from September until June/July, thanks to its good preservation qualities. In the future, we want to go even further in terms of earliness by opening the market with the variety at the end of August, thanks to an early HoneyCrunch clone. It is a popular apple, on the French market and abroad, including Germany, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands and Singapore. This year, our stocks have been clearing even faster than usual."
