Ramadan boosts demand for Kashmiri apples

During Ramadan, the demand for Kashmiri apples has surged throughout India, leading growers to distribute their cold storage apples across the country. "CA stored apples have a good demand right now. Right now Kashmiri apples are being shipped to the leading fruit markets of India. We still have a huge quantity of apple still stored in cold chain facilities ready to be shipped to the various markets of India," stated Fayaz Ahmad Malik, President of the North Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association.

This trend is evident in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, with apple prices ranging from Rs 1500-1600 per box. The utilization of Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage has been beneficial for Kashmiri apple growers, enabling them to capitalize on the off-season demand and secure favorable returns.
