Numerous apples in Ukrainian cold storage

According to Volodymyr Gurzhiy, head of the USPA Fruit company, Ukrainian apple storage facilities are currently within annual norms. "There are no excesses, which were typical of past seasons," he says. "Enough apples are still being held in refrigerators."

Numerous producers with high-quality apples have retained their stock for the latter half of the season. Some have begun tapping into export potential post-New Year. Additionally, many continue to store high-quality apples in full-capacity refrigeration.

Gurzhiy deems current prices for export-quality apples as favourable for producers. "Playing 'casino' might not be necessary," he remarks, "but I see no risks of price drops for Ukrainian apples. It's essential to consider costs: whether it's worth keeping them in storage or not." He advises, "If the price suits, it's time to sell. Moreover, one must consider general uncertainties regarding military risks, strikes, and so forth."
