Chilean fresh fruit exports reached record figures at the beginning of 2023

In the first two months of 2023, Chilean fresh fruit exports amounted to a record US $2.765 billion, i.e. 22.7% more than in the same period of the previous year. This increase was driven, in part, by exports of fresh peaches and nectarines, which in February reached a record US$72 million and grew by 18.7%, according to data provided by ProChile.

In the first two months of 2023, fresh peach and nectarine exports amounted to US$112 million. Fresh cherry exports stood at US$1.943 billion, i.e. 26.4% more than in the same period of last year. Fresh blueberries also showed remarkable growth, with shipments of $26 million, i.e. 44.2% more than in the first two months of 2023.

China consolidated its position as the main destination for Chilean fresh fruits, with exports that reached $1.952 billion and increased by 30.6% compared to 2023. Other important markets included the United States, with $382 million (+7.3%), the Netherlands with $99 million (+10.8%), and the United Kingdom with $46 million (+6.3%).

Lorena SepĂșlveda, National Director of ProChile, emphasized the importance of the fruit sector as an ambassador for the country and its relevance to national exports. "We are in the middle of the season and the increases achieved so far over the previous year are very relevant," he said. She also highlighted the joint work with the private sector to open new markets, and promote and diversify exports, especially this year in which ProChile celebrates its fiftieth anniversary promoting Chilean goods and services worldwide.
