Natalia Moranth, Green Explosion:

“We want to introduce our Colombian fresh fruit to Europe”

A Colombian grower and exporter of fresh aromatic herbs to the US market, is looking to expand to Germany and the rest of Europe. Natalia Moranth, Sales Director of Green Explosion, says: “Thanks to the successful positioning of our herbs with customers, we identified opportunities to expand our catalog in Europe and include products such as lemons, limes, blueberries, avocados, and asparagus.”

Green Explosion Inc. through their True Nature brand is a family-owned company established in 2016. It was initially dedicated to the marketing of fresh aromatic herbs such as basil, mint, thyme, rosemary, chives, among others.

The company operates in a vertically integrated manner, collaborating with producers of aromatic herbs, avocados, and other growers through various alliances. “Both our partner farms and Green Explosion have high-quality certifications, including SERES, PRIMUS GFS, and USDA ORGANIC, establishing a presence in the food service, supermarkets, and high-quality markets.

Moranth says Green Explosion manages three crops of aromatic herbs in Colombia, focusing on the production of basil in three varieties, as well as mint, rosemary, dill, chives, among other fresh herbs, covering an area of 30 hectares. “Due to the delicacy of the products, we opt for air shipments. Additionally, we have avocado Hass crops covering an area of 80 hectares. Furthermore, we have partnerships with growers in Peru for avocados, blueberries, and asparagus.

“Our primary market currently lies in the Eastern United States, and our goal for 2024 is to establish a presence in Europe. That's why we will participate in the Fruit Logistica fair to promote our new products such as avocados, asparagus, limes, and blueberries,” says a hopeful Moranth.

Regarding demand and prices, herb customers focus on specialized products. “Due to the delicate nature of these items, we conduct airfreight shipments two or three times a week, and we re-pack for the final clients to ensure freshness and quality. Prices remain stable and are managed on a semi-annual or annual basis,” states Moranth.

“What sets us apart and provides unique value is our commitment to quality, freshness, and service. We have our own logistics, with our own warehouse and transport, adding value to our customers, who are the reason for our existence,” concludes Moranth, who can be contacted for a meeting in Berlin.
