On March 30, various retail chains said they had removed problematic products from their shelves after Taipei City authorities published a report detailing fruit and vegetables sold at some of their stores were found to contain excessive levels of pesticide residue.
Among these, 85°C Daily Cafe, DON DON DONKI Taiwan, Costco, and Fresh2you indicated they would review suppliers after fruit and vegetables sold at their stores were named in a Department of Health report. According to the results of the investigation conducted in February, which targeted traditional markets, fruit and vegetable stores, retail shops, and restaurants in Taipei, 15 of 51 items tested were problematic.

For instance, strawberries sold at 85°C Daily Cafe's Wende shop, DON DON DONKI's shop in Ximending, and Costco's in Neihu were found to be substandard.
Suppliers of Taiwanese strawberries from other cities and counties to 85°C Daily Cafe and suppliers of Japanese strawberries to DON DON DONKI and Costco will be fined by respective local governments for substandard products containing higher residues of one to three pesticides.
