Peruvian avocado exports increased by 53% in the first two and a half months of 2023

The volume of avocados exported by Peru in 2023 has increased significantly. According to the president of the Inform@cción consultancy, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides, up until March 12, Peru shipped a total of 35,200 tons of avocado, i.e. 53% more than the 23,000 tons it shipped in the same period of the previous year.

Specifically, Peru exported 4,579,740 kilos of avocado in January, 16,709,373 kilos in February, and 14,038,542 kilos in the first 12 days of March. “This is the best January, February, and March in history, as Peru has exported more avocado than in any other year, which means that the supply of avocado from the Sierra, the earliest variety, has been higher than in previous years,” he stated.

In addition, to date, Peruvian avocado prices in the international market were better than those recorded in the previous year.
