The Natural Fruit Company joins the EsAgua Network

Agriculture plays a key role in meeting the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. An example of this commitment to environmental sustainability is that made by The Natural Fruit Company, the last company to join EsAgua, a network of companies committed to the sustainable use of water and the measurement of the water footprint.

“Since its origin, the group has consolidated its crops to reinforce its citrus fruits, melon, and watermelon offer during the twelve months of the year, which includes the widest assortment of organic references and is supported by a level of service-oriented to excellence and responsibility, to bring fresh and sustainable fruit to the main European distribution chains.”

Currently, The Natural Fruit Company operates ten packaging facilities with an aggregate capacity of 350,000 tons. Four of them are located in the Region of Murcia. The ones in Alhama de Murcia and Torreagüera are specialized in conventional lemon, and the ones in Alquerías and Los Ramos are dedicated exclusively to organic lemon and orange."

"The company implements its commitment to sustainability through a series of measures to reduce its impact on the environment: from its good sustainable agriculture and bio-inclusive agriculture practices, the conservation of soil and other natural resources in the long term, and the fact that more than 60% of its crops are organic. In addition, the company has carried out different initiatives, such as measuring the water footprint and neutralizing the carbon footprint, which will allow them to use their raw materials, resources, and energy more efficiently."

Fruits that don't waste a drop of water
The Natural Fruit Company has a specialized technical team in the field of sustainable water management, which works every day to reduce the water footprint with two main actions, the calculation of the water footprint and planning how to efficiently use water resources.

The management and sanitation of the water used in much of its production process is a good example of this. To achieve this, The Natural Fruit Company has two wastewater treatment plants, in which they treat part of the water used in the processing of their products.
