This week, Health and IPR minister Dr S. Ranjan Singh inaugurated a Multipurpose Cold Storage at Kangmong, Imphal West district. The facility has a capacity of 200 metric tons, divided between four chambers. Dr Ranjan said that in view of the state, producing different varieties of food crops and fruits festivals to encourage orange, lemon, chili, pineapple, etc., farmers are being organized.
He also commended progressive farmers for venturing into plantation of non-indigenous fruits and vegetables and stressed the need for setting up more cold storages to prevent loss of perishable farm products in the state.
