The Moroccan grower Les Vergers du Soleil produces table grapes in the regions of Marrakech and Taroudant. The grower's flagship product, seedless table grapes, is available for export each season starting in late May.
The company currently markets up to 3,000 tons per year of table grapes, a production mainly liquidated on the European market before the start of their own grape season. Ms. Elana Shabaily, Marketer at Les Vergers du Soleil, said: "We're in a lucky position, with demand higher than our available volumes and loyal customers for more than 20 years."
The company has undertaken measures to increase its yield, with the replacement of its vineyards. "We are transitioning to new varieties provided by Sunworld, SNFL, and Grapa. This would allow us to gain volume on the same acreage. It's a steady incrementation over 5 years."
Another substantial advantage of Les Vergers du Soleil, says Elana, is its proximity to Europe: "We do business with Europe in real-time. Our shipments arrive in one day in Spain, and in 5 days in the UK. This allows us to deliver very fresh products. We also offer an on-demand packaging service making our produce ready to use from the origin."
The company makes business outside of the table grape season by packing other products such as pomegranate, melons and organic citrus using its facilities on both shores of the Mediterranean, Elana said, "We provide services to third-party growers, through the packing station Les Vergers du Soleil in Marrakech or the transformation and dispatching center Pomares do Sol in Portugal."
