Pascale Savi, Relais Vert:

“We are relocating and developing cabbage production in the region to secure our local purchases”

French cabbage from the Provence region has been available at Relais Vert since the beginning of November. “Slightly earlier than usual because the weather was nice this autumn,” explains Pascale Savi, a customer of the organic wholesaler in Carpentras. “The Provence region is perfect for the cultivation of cabbage. In recent years, we have therefore been relocating and developing our cabbage production (cauliflower, romanesco cabbage…) in the region to secure our local purchases.” The cabbage offer will be available until April, and later completed with cauliflower from Brittany, because Relais Vert strives to make cabbage available for its clients all year round.

Cabbage is a true winter vegetable so the relatively warm temperatures have been holding back the demand. “When the weather is nice, people do not really buy cauliflower.” On the market, the situation remains “difficult, with some stabilization” for nearly a year now.

As a partner for this 11th edition, Relais Vert attended the Best Organic Product Awards ceremony organized by Biotopia on November 8th. The company was awarded two prizes during this ceremony for the Natur'Avenir eggplant riste, which came first in its category with a score of 17.73/20 and the Philia salsa, with a score of 17.63/20.

The Natur'Avenir eggplant riste is prepared according to our traditional local recipe: with fresh eggplants and tomatoes that have soaked under the Provence sun. The eggplants are cut in thin slices, and then grilled and prepared by us with tomato puree, onions, thyme and bay leaves…”

“Our mild and slightly spicy tomato sauce guarantees a production that is French, thanks to the onions and tomatoes used to prepare it, as well as traditional.”
