Indian farmers open e-Commerce startup with 10,000 producers as suppliers

An Indian e-Commerce startup by farmers in Maharashtra, called Poona AgroCart, launched in Pune with 1 000 farmers signed up as suppliers. They hope to have 10 000 fresh produce farmers signed up in six months' time.

They deal in fresh produce, mainly fresh fruit and vegetables using the online shop to provide directly to consumers. They aim to give farmers a direct link with consumers and for them to benefit more from their produce. They are starting fresh produce collection centers in different areas. The startup also assists with quality training and on-field guidance to improve productivity and increase the income level of farmers.
