Technical day organized by Consorzi Agrari d'Italia

Land drones that can operate independently

The technical day organized by CAI Consorzi Agrari d'Italia on October 21st, 2022, at Ambruosi&Viscardi (Marche region) featured the presentation of "Orio," a fully-electric robot available to Italian agricultural producers.

The technical day at Ambruosi&Viscardi

Orio is a land drone boasting independent movement and is connected via GPS that can perform various operations in open fields (vegetables, industrial crops, seeds). It can clean the soil mechanically, thus eliminating the need for chemicals, and unlike other similar machines, it can also be used for sowing.

"The hike in energy prices is pushing the digital revolution with investments in drones, GPS, robots, and software to combat climate change, reduce costs, save the environment and increase productivity," reads a CAI note.

Orio features fully-electric rechargeable batteries that can be replaced in the fields, meaning that as much as 200 kg of fuel can be saved per hectare. "An actual example of fully-sustainable technology that can work on four hectares of land per day in 8 hours and which reduces the carbon footprint."

"A cultural revolution that testifies to the research activities for advanced technologies all over the world by Consorzi Agrari d'Italia, with the objective of making agricultural production processes more effective and sustainable," explains sales manager Ivan Cremonini.

"We make this innovation available to Italian agricultural businesses. It combines great savings in terms of energy costs and products with respect for the environment. Consorzi Agrari d'Italia confirms itself as a point of reference for the supply of technologies and services for precision agriculture."
