Apple crop fell to 300,000 tons

Hungary: Peach, pear and apricot crops exceeded earlier years

According to agroinform.hu, Hungarian orchards produced nice yields of peaches, apricots and pears this year. Unfortunately, this season’s drought did weigh on the nation's apple crop. The latter fell to around 300,000 tons, from 520,000 in 2021.

The peach and apricot crops well exceeded earlier years, with orchards producing approximately 25,000 tons of apricots. Last year's apricot crop was a little under 12,000 tons, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Agroinform said the pear crop rose to 17,000 tons from 16,000 tons a year earlier, and the sweet cherry crop was around 10,000 tons. According to KSH data, a little under 9,000 tons of sweet cherries were harvested in Hungary in 2021.
