Convivia - For Italian Food Lovers

Foreigners more careful about labels and sustainable productions

A great passion for conviviality and the spasmodic search for good, clean and high quality fruit are what led to the creation of the Convivia brand, specialized in the processing of organic, gluten-free and vegan products made using Sicilian raw materials mainly grown on family land.

"Contact with nature is at the basis of everything: it is the starting point for those who cultivate keeping in mind that healthy food is not only good for man, but for the environment as well. We then process the produce in our Solarino (SR) plant: cherry tomatoes, eggplants, basil, wild fennel, chili peppers and local almonds. Precious fruits that we valorize following local traditional recipes to promote them outside of the national boundaries as well," explains Pietro Campione, owner of Convivia – For Italian Food Lovers which he manages with his wife Gabriella Garozzo.

The leading product is cherry tomato sauce, available in 330 gram jars. This segment keeps growing and has no need to envy home-made preserves.

Over the years, the company has differentiated its production by introducing a line of starters, pestos and patés as well as a range of 6 ready sauces available in 259 gram jars. Then of course there is the Sicilian caponata (190g) which is unique as it is made exclusively with the family's own organic products, including: eggplants (50%), tomato sauce (16%), sea salt, basil, onion (11%), celery (7%), extra-virgin olive oil (5%), white wine vinegar, cane sugar for the sweet-and-sour note, green olives, capers, black pepper and chili peppers.

"We have the clear impression that consumers are changing: in addition to appreciating typical local products more and more, they do not purchase just because the price is good. They tend to choose classic or revisited local recipes and are more careful about labels or the production chain."

"Our clients, especially abroad, care a lot about environmental sustainability, GMOs, local productions and the entire organic high-quality product range."

The company processes cherry tomatoes grown in open fields in the summer boasting a sugar level between 8 and 11° Brix. Most of the production is destined to be processed in order to favor the internationalization process. This is to be achieved also by taking part in fairs in Italy and abroad and thanks to agents who, over the years, have helped the company grow with 90% of the foreign turnover coming from Europe (Switzerland, France, Sweden and Germany) and Japan.
