Brazilian consumers should see prices of seasonal fruits and vegetables drop

With the arrival of spring and the increase in temperatures, some  fruits and vegetables should become cheaper. Market vendor Pedro Henrique Silva Rodrigues has already noticed changes in relation to a fruit with a spring harvest. “Papaya was a little scarce, it was very expensive a few days ago, but now people are starting to consume it again. In spring, you can enjoy it, because it has a good price, even though summer is the flagship, the time when there are more seasonal fruits.”

With low temperatures in early September still, prices can take a while to start dropping. “For now, what is in season is artichokes, tomatoes, chayote, peppers and zucchini. But even though it's the season, there are many expensive vegetables and fruits, the cold got in the way, production is low, so the value of some items may take longer to drop,” said one trader.
