Amazon Fresh opens 2nd Pennsylvania location
Amazon Fresh opened its second store in Pennsylvania. The market in Broomall, Pennsylvania, about 10 miles from Philadelphia, is the retailer’s first store in the state with its proprietary “just walk out” technology that allows shoppers to skip the checkout line, the company said. Earlier this month, Amazon opened its second Maryland location, a 46,000-square-foot store in Chevy Chase.

US: Raley's enlists DoorDash for grocery delivery
DoorDash is continuing to gain traction in the grocery retail sector, with its latest partner being The Raley’s Companies. Same-day grocery delivery is now available from 213 locations across multiple cities, including 117 Raley’s stores in Northern California and Nevada and 90-plus Bashas’ locations in Arizona. Specific banners are Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, Raley’s O-N-E Market, Bashas’, Food City and AJ’s Fine Foods stores.

US: Kroger net sales jump over 9% in Q2
The Kroger Co. upped the momentum in its fiscal 2022 second quarter with strong net and identical sales growth and adjusted earnings per share that beat Wall Street’s high-end estimate. For the quarter ended August 13, sales came in at $34.64bln, up 9.3% from $31.68bln a year earlier, Kroger reported. Backing out gasoline, which has seen elevated but relaxed pricing in recent months, sales rose 5.2% year over year. That compared with a net sales gain of 3.9% (and a 0.4% decrease excluding fuel) in the fiscal 2021 quarter.

Dollarama Inc raised its full-year same-store sales forecast after topping quarterly revenue estimates, helped by strong demand for its groceries and household essentials as more consumers turn to discount stores amid surging inflation.
