Xinjiang opens the first cold chain special train for Jiashi plums this year

On August 21, a train with 32 cold chain containers and a full load of 640 tons of Jiashi plums departed from Kashgar Station in Xinjiang, and will transfer to Weicheng Station in Shaanxi, and then be sold to many provinces and cities across the country.

The Kashgar area is a characteristic forest and fruit area in Xinjiang. At present, the planting area of plums in Jiashi County is 30,000 hectares. This year, the fruiting area is 15333.33 hectares, and the estimated output is 160,000 tons. It has become the main producing area of plums in China.

It is understood that the county's plums will be put on the market from late August to early September and shipped to the country for sales, which has a high demand for logistics. Wang Yong, deputy secretary of the Jiashi County Party Committee, said that at present, the road cold chain logistics transportation has been far from meeting the export demand of plums. The first cold chain special train for plums launched this time has broken the biggest bottleneck of transportation and has brought great help to the development of the plum industry in Jiashi County.

"After understanding the demand for plum shipments, we allocated 4 groups of 32 railway machinery refrigerated compartments, and we contacted a number of transportation companies in the highway department, and prepared 15 shuttle trucks to transport, and completed the electrification and refrigeration after the plums were loaded, so as to ensure their rapid shipment."

Deng Youwen, duty director of the Kashgar Sales Department of Kashgar Freight Center of China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group said that railway cold chain logistics have the advantages of large transportation volumes, good temperature control performance and long transportation distances, which can not only ensure the quality and taste of plums to the greatest extent, but also fully meet the needs of bulk transportation.

"It's the season when plums are ripe for the market, and the cold chain special train can meet the needs of fruit transportation, preservation and fast transportation, which has a great effect on our market expansion," Chen Shuaiyin, chairman of Jiashi County Xinnanjiang Fruit Industry Trading, said.

It is reported that in 2021, the Xinjiang railway department opened two special cold chain trains for Jiashi Plums to meet its outbound transportation needs.
