The Commission to promote Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) has reported that, in the first half of the year, Peruvian blueberry exports increased by 119% over the same period of last year amounting to 146.5 million dollars.
The main importer was the United States with $86.3 million, i.e. 103.6% more than in the same period of the previous year, followed by the Netherlands, the country with the highest demand for this product in Europe, with $26.5 million and a 94.7% increase. In the same period, the United Kingdom tripled its purchases of Peruvian blueberries (11.4 million dollars/320.4%) and China increased its purchases by 380.6% to 8.8 million dollars.
"Fresh blueberries have become one of the world's most beloved products, as reflected by the more than 146 million dollars accumulated in exports between January and June 2022. We are working to bring our best superfood offer to the most important importers in the world, starting from our sectorial promotion plan,” stated Amora Carbajal, executive president of PROMPERU.
