Sales up to May increased by 43%, the largest increase in its history

Andalusia achieves record exports to America

Andalusia is advancing its market diversification strategy with record exports to America in the first five months of 2022, in which it achieved totaled sales of 1,955 million euro, which is the best record in history for this period since there are homologated data (1995), according to Extenda-Andalucia Export and Foreign Investment.

Sales to America increased by 43% when compared to January-May of the previous year, becoming the continental destination in which Andalusian sales grew the most in this period. America is the second continent to which Andalusian companies export the most, with 10.7% of the region's total international turnover, just behind its natural market, Europe.

With this data, Andalusia is Spain's third biggest export community to the Americas, with 12.2% of total Spanish sales, and its the fastest growing among the five leading Spanish exporting communities to this market.

The United States is the main destination of Andalusian products in the American continent, concentrating two-thirds of the region's exports to the Americas. It's also the destination with the biggest growth among Andalusia's Top-ten destination markets.

The good performance of sales to the Americas has contributed significantly to boosting Andalusian exports in the first five months of the year. Thus, Andalusia experienced a record export in the January-May 2022 period, with 18,243 million euro in sales, i.e. 31% more than in the previous year and the best historical figure since there are records.

Exports are led by Cadiz and Huelva has the fastest growth
Cadiz led exports between January and May 2022 with 496 million euro in sales, accounting for 25.4% of Andalusia's exports and experiencing a 43% growth, the third best among the provinces. It was followed by Seville, with 412 million (21.1% of the region's exports) and a 27.6% increase over the same period of the previous year. Almeria ranked third with 295 million, 15.1% of the total, and a 37% increase.

Huelva ranked fourth with 263 million euros, 13.5% of the total, and it was the province that experiences the greatest advance with a 394% increase in exports. Cordoba ranked fifth with 173 million euro, 8.8% of the total, and a 7.3% increase over the first five months of 2022. It was followed by Malaga with 156 million euro, 8% of the total, and a 15.8% increase. Granada ranked seventh with 97 million, 4.9% of the total, and a 45% increase, the second best among the provinces. JaƩn ranks eighth, with 64 million euro in sales, 3.3% of the total, and a 0.2% increase.
