Carrefour to contribute 350,000 euros to revitalize regions through organic farming

Carrefour has unveiled a plan to revitalize the rural economy by creating new regional organic channels, as part of a revitalization agreement with the French government. The company is strengthening its support for organic farming and hopes to use this investment to create new jobs in French farming areas.

Carrefour is announcing a contribution of 350,000 euros in an agreement for the revitalization of the rural economy aimed at developing new organic sectors. The Group's objective is to support farmers and provide them with financial assistance for various projects: conversion to organic farming (which can be both technical and costly), preservation and improvement of soil quality, development of new production channels. In addition to public aid, this joint aid is paid to all beneficiaries in the form of operating subsidies since the second quarter of 2022 to finance 6 organic channel projects.

Carrefour and the French government support the development of 6 new French organic projects
Among the French organic projects that will benefit from the financial support of the company for development:

- In the Alpes-Maritimes, the company is supporting the Fédération Départementale des Groupes d'Études et de Développement Agricole (FDGEDA) in the development of an organic cut flower industry, aiming to diversify and rotate crops to improve the quality of agricultural land.

- In Haute-Garonne, the Group is providing financial assistance to the Jardins de la Croix for an organic squash development project.

- In Savoie, the members of the Verger Expérimental de Poisy association benefit from financial assistance from Carrefour in the conversion of tree growers to develop the production of organic pears, for which volumes are still very low in France.

This approach meets the objectives that the Group set for itself in 2018, aiming to support the development of new channels while offering financing solutions to facilitate the transition for producers.
