Technical tours during the cherry symposium

The beating heart of the International cherry symposium (May 2-6, 2022) will be the technical visits. The tours will be held on May 6, 2022 and one of them will be in the Vignola area (Modena), renowned for the production and commercialization of cherries.

"It is a territory well known abroad as well for the high quality of its cherries. The products are commercialized with the IGP Vignola mark, one of the best examples on a European level of a combination between mark politics and investments in innovation."

Unitec system at Agrintesa in Vignola

Guided tours in experimental businesses and commercial orchards are envisaged to showcase what is new when it comes to varieties and rootstocks as well as innovations in planting systems, anti-rain covers and integrated control multi-functional systems. The day will end wit a visit to Agrintesa's cherry processing and packaging facility.

Another tour will take participants to Cesena and Longiano (Forlì-Cesena) and will be dedicated to specialized sustainable cherry cultivations. "We will visit two small organic companies part of Apofruit. Two examples of how, thanks to particularly suitable environments,  varietal and technical innovation can be easily transferred and implemented into eco-friendly production systems while guaranteeing the utmost quality and genuineness."

Vivai Battistini

The tour will then continue towards Cesena and Battistini Vivai to learn more about innovations in the production of cherry trees within the ever-evolving nursery sector. The day will end with a visit to he Apfruit organic processing and packaging facility in Longiano.
