New red grapefruit faring well

There is a newcomer to citrus cultivation in Israel - Red Premium Grapefruit. Its production is going splendidly, by all accounts. This new Brand was introduced to the market last year. These high-quality fruits are grown in a unique region, north of the Sea of Galilee.

“We waited patiently for many years,” says Yosi Knop of Galilee Export. “And, finally, we launched this product last year. We couldn’t have hoped for better feedback from the market. Customers have immediately appreciated the product’s high quality and the premium taste.”

“I believe it brought a new added value to this category. Grapefruit lovers have been waiting a long time for this kind of premium flavor. It is something that has was not available before".

Yosi says they maintain strict quality measures. “That ensures the Red Premium Grapefruit ripening parameters offer a perfect balance of flavors.” Many of their clients did panel taste tests. They compared the Red Premium Grapefruit to those from other origins. “The results were unanimous - the Red Premium aced every taste challenge,” he explains. “That is a huge compliment, and we’re extremely thankful for that.”

Looking ahead
“This season, we plan to more than double production,” he answers. “We’re hoping to do even more. That’s if the weather plays along. We know demand was on the rise last year. And we will do our best to meet that.”

The company has planted more orchards in recent years. Specifically to the north of the Sea of Galilee. “That area has a unique topography,” Yosi reveals. “That, and the region’s climate provide the ideal ripening conditions. That leads to the grapefruit’s exceptional taste. We’re very optimistic and plan to see significantly increasing production throughout the years to come.”

“We’d like to thank all our buyers who have reached out to us in advance. They ask about potential supply for this year.” Galilee Exports got many of these inquiries, especially from new markets. “Those potential customers heard about the brand last year. And they’re excited to start with it this year. As are we. We’re extremely excited to start this year’s production of the Red Premium Grapefruits,” Yosi concludes.
