Puerto Ventanas implements a Chilean fruit export service together with Cool Carriers

Puerto Ventanas (PVSA) will begin loading and unloading reefers containers to support Chilean fruit exports through the company Cool Carriers, which specializes in the transport of refrigerated products.

The PVSA will use new technologies and the systematization of Proycom so that the operation runs smoothly. It will also enable areas for the USDA, the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), Customs, and the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile, and pave a multipurpose area.

Specifically, the new service that PVSA will put into operation for the first time consists of unloading empty reefer containers and loading them to the vessels fully loaded. In addition, Site No. 3 of the Puerto Ventana Pier, which has a slab of 180 x 25 meters and allows the operation of vessels with a maximum draught of 11.7 meters, a length of 200 meters, and a displacement of 54,000 tons, will be used to load fruit pallets onto vessels.

The director of Cool Carriers Chile, Ricardo Barckhahn, expressed his gratitude to the PVSA team for "all the support and collaboration they have given us in this great project that we are going to implement this season, which enables the shipment of fruit in Puerto Ventanas. Together, we're going to get this project off the ground.”

"We appreciate the efforts that Puerto Ventanas is making to join the available offer of ports to export our fruit," stated Ivan Marambio, the president of Asoex.
