Allan Dodge with Pro Citrus Network

“Relationships are the biggest driver of our success”

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Pro Citrus Network (PCN), a year-round provider of citrus. The company was established with the vision of marketing high-quality citrus year-round. "It was my goal to be an entrepreneur and have my own business," says Allan Dodge, Pro Citrus Network's founder. Prior to starting the company, he had worked on both the growing side and the packing side of the business, and felt marketing was the natural next step. "This progression led to the business initially launching in my living room, and I never looked back."

Reflecting on two decades
In the past two decades, the citrus industry has gone through the typical ebbs and flows of farming, with weather cycles and challenges to grow and harvest under sometimes difficult circumstances. "The past few years have been particularly challenging with supply chain struggles and costs that are increasing at a faster pace than normal inflationary rates," Dodge commented. "We're continuously assessing the landscape to optimize resources and remain as competitive as we can, all while delivering the best possible product to our customers as well as fair returns to growers."

Relationship building
What hasn't changed in twenty years is PCN's core value 'Relationships' as it remains at the center of the company's business. "I believe thoughtfulness and respect for others have propelled PCN to its current position. No matter the interaction, our priority is to uphold a strong work ethic and make sure our growers, customers, and communities can depend on us. We enjoy ourselves while working hard to meet the needs and mutual common goals of our business partners," said Dodge." With relationships being a key pillar, he believes that doing things together is the biggest driver of the company's success.

In line with building strong relationships with growers and customers, the company strives to create a vibrant culture with individuals who are driven by passion to make things happen. Three of Dodge's sons are involved in the family business. "It truly is a unique position to be in with each son bringing a different perspective and personality to the table. Despite their differences, they stay focused on building relationships with our customers and meeting the common goals of the team."

Over the past few years, the addition of sister company Foremost Fresh Direct in Baytown, TX has resulted in growth of the team. This company specializes in fresh produce cold storage, supply management, and imports logistics services in the Houston area. A full basket of fresh produce and distribution services are being offered.

"It's a blessing to do business with people we consider good friends," Dodge concluded. If you would like to meet the team, stop by booth #306 at Viva Fresh this weekend.
