Med Group showroom dedicated to the greenhouse sector

How high-tech greenhouses are designed

Greenhouse production, which contributes to the diversification, quality and sustainability of production, is now more than ever playing a key role in the Italian fruit and vegetable sector. Modern techniques can integrate sustainable agricultural practices, such as efficient use of water and fertilizers, and using renewable energy to heat and light greenhouses. These innovations are part of the activities of Med Group srl, a company specialized in the construction of greenhouses, whose showroom is dedicated to shelter structures.

The company, based in Vittoria, Sicily, presents the most advanced systems for growing fruit and vegetables, flowers and for professional nurseries. The exhibition covers an area of 1800 square metres where it is possible to see single- and multi-lane greenhouses: Multiart, Multiart Tr, Multisunart, Multimed, Multieasy, Easyart, Easymed and Nordiart.

Every year, Europrogress and Med Group use this site as a venue for industry conferences. An open day is held to welcome all professionals in the sector. It is an opportunity for meetings and the exchange of ideas on the latest innovations and improvements in structures.

The company has also been active abroad for some time, most recently in the United States, where it is building a latest-generation greenhouse system covering no less than 50 hectares.

Let us take a closer look at the different types of system, starting with the Multiart. This is the most advanced model in the Europrogress range, designed as a multi-tree greenhouse that can accommodate plants widely used in nurseries and above-ground production, followed by the Multiart TR, a multi-tree greenhouse characterized by a trellis arch. The latter is a structure that can also be used as a tool shed, warehouse or garden center, as it increases the internal volume and load-bearing capacity.

Easymed greenhouse model

The Med Group proposes the Multisunart, which is ideal for the installation on the top of rigid materials and photovoltaic panels, in line with the themes of agro-voltaic energy. Multimed, on the other hand, is a multi-greenhouse model suitable for covering large areas at a low price. Multieasy is the Gothic greenhouse model for countries with heavy snowfall, ideal for growing above ground thanks to the large volume of air inside the greenhouse (widths from 5 to 6.50 m) and on the ground (widths from 7.50 to 9 m).

Easyart is a tunnel greenhouse with a vertical wall to increase its volume, with better internal ventilation and a height more suitable for the use of agricultural machinery. The classic tunnel for farmers is called Nordiart. Its arched shape allows snow and condensation to drain away. The structure, like the Easyart model, can be fitted with optional accessories, so its use is not limited to the agricultural sector. Finally, there is Easymed. One of its main features is the simplicity of all its components and the resulting speed of assembly.

Jean Pierre Lejeune, president of the Med Group in Vittoria (Sicily) and EuroProgress in Mirandola (Emilia-Romagna)

It is equipped for the 4.0 accessories that can be implemented on the various models of Med Group greenhouses. These are all on display in the Vittoria showroom. On the other hand, Med Group is a company that is constantly investing in advanced technologies and innovations for the improvement of the efficiency and productivity of greenhouses. This includes automated irrigation systems, computerized environmental control systems and technologies used to monitor crops.
