Here is the list of the 20 companies attending the Macfrut trade show (3-5 May 2023)

Egyptian companies seeking business opportunities

Egypt will be participating in Macfrut 2023 with a large exhibition area along with twenty producers and major exporters. The project is being curated by ExpoLink, a private non-profit association founded in 1997 in support of Egypt's private sector. The Egyptian presence at the Rimini Expo Centre (3-5 May) is the completion of a three-year agreement signed last October in Cairo between Macfrut and ExpoLink, which saw the Italian trade show as the benchmark event for the development of the fruit and vegetable sector.

Agriculture is a key sector of the Egyptian economy. In 2021, it was responsible for 11.83 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and accounted for 28 percent of total employment. By 2024, Egypt aims to increase the agricultural sector's gross domestic product contribution by 12 percent, in addition to expanding agricultural production by 30 percent within the same year. Egypt's main fruit and vegetable exports to the world are potatoes, citrus fruits, onions, grapes, dates, strawberries and pomegranates. Italy can serve as a hub for Egyptian exports to southern and eastern European countries.

"Our association will manage the Egyptian pavilion at Macfrut, hosting 20 Egyptian producers and major exporters," they explain from Expolink. "The guests will exhibit high-quality products, including fresh fruits and vegetables; herbs and spices; plant protection products and fertilizers; cereals; and packing and packaging materials. The goal is to explore new markets, taking the opportunity to showcase Egypt's diversity of fresh produce, as well as the country's strategic position as a top sourcing destination in the international agricultural produce scene."
