Tropical fruits and roots on display at Southern Exposure

WP Produce, a Miami-based and family-owned grower, packer and shipper of  Desbry® brand tropical fruits and roots, returns to the annual SEPC Southern Exposure trade show and conference. There, it will showcase its exotic line of tropical fruits and roots sourced from Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America.

“Southern Exposure is a very important show for us, offering the perfect backdrop to introduce our exotic fruit offerings which continue to grow in consumer appeal as shoppers look for more produce variety,” says Desiree Pardo Morales, VP of WP Produce and founder of direct to consumer sister company Tropical Fruit Box.

At Southern Exposure, WP Produce will showcase its line of tropical fruits and roots sourced from Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The company will showcase the Desbry brand of exotic and tropical fruits and roots sourced from Florida, including its core Desbry Tropical avocado, a larger-sized variety that is slower to oxidize; guava, sourced nationwide from Florida; dragon fruit, a 2023 Flavor of the Year by Firmenich; Manzano bananas; and mangos. Other fruits and roots featured include longan, mamey, star fruit, boniato, sugarcane and more.

WP Produce says it sources from growers with top quality for that specific commodity and follows a stringent food safety program with traceability directly to the grove of origin. Desbry brand tropical and exotic fruits and roots come in shelf-extending packaging from the shipping container to retail delivery.

“The one-on-one interactions at SEPC Southern Exposure allow us to showcase our year-round exotic fruit offerings, complemented with the tools for profitability like our ethylene-eating technology that maintains freshness and increases shelf-life,” says Christopher Gonzalez, VP of sales.

WP Produce has grown into a full-line purveyor of tropical and exotic produce with an expanded commodities lineup, including an organics line. WP Produce founder, Willy Pardo, began selling exotic and tropical produce from the back of his truck in Miami to neighbors who wanted items that were staples of their diets but not always easy to find in grocery stores.

Today, WP Produce continues to be family owned and operated by Pardo’s daughter, Pardo Morales, and his nephew, Gonzalez. It is focused on the expansion of its Desbry branded produce, product line diversity aligning with consumer appeal, innovative packaging and development of packing houses in Miami and the Dominican Republic.

During the event, attendees can visit booth #1136 in the Atlantic Hall Silver Sponsor Aisle to see Desbry Tropical & Exotic Fruits and Roots during The Prime Directive: Food Waste & Nutrition Insecurity Educational Session 1 on Friday, March 3, from 8:30 am – 9:45 am.

The expo takes place in Orlando, Florida on March 2-4 at the Swan & Dolphin Resort.
