Mexico: Rising Farms boosts capacity fivefold

Quintupling. That's what Rising Farms will be doing. The Mexico-based high-tech greenhouse company announced it will expand their growing acreage from 12 to 62 acres (25 hectares). The expansion not only increases by 5 times Rising Farms' installed capacity to grow hydroponic specialty crops for the North American market but also brings 500 new job openings for its team during the first half of 2023.

Highly skilled jobs
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Pablo Ricaud, is excited to make this announcement, especially during an economic turndown. "Not only are we able to increase our capacity to provide the highest quality hydroponic vegetables, but we are also able to bring highly skilled jobs to our communities, something that makes us very proud."

The current expansion follows the Rising Farms Series A funding. The company leverages a unique real estate approach to grow quality hydroponic vegetables in a controlled environment, enabling them to scale up at a rapid pace. Also, this expansion will be operational under the Rising Farms flag through a long-term lease underscoring the company's model for scalability in terms of growth. The facility is already operational, and Rising Farms will take over in May of this year.

Techniques
The company's mission is also to generate the lowest carbon footprint possible while developing its workforce and communities via skill training and quality-of-life improvement. On top of that, in this facility, Rising Farms will use techniques to make all of that possible.

"Our indoor facilities use automation and climate-efficient predictions that enable for just 10% of the water consumption of traditional legacy farms, while obtaining 20 times the yields", Pablo says. They will also be looking to use autonomous growing and other AI applications, for which they will use Crop Controller of Blue Radix.
