Ihor Chechitko, director of HZPC Ukraine

Export of Ukrainian potatoes to the EU is possible, but not soon

In Ihor Chechitko, director of HZPC Ukraine, his opinion, the export of Ukrainian potatoes to Europe is possible under the condition of sustainable cultivation of high-quality products. Ukrainian potato producers should unite for growing and washing, packing, etc. These should be manufacturers who will have the necessary certificates, in particular, the same Global G.A.P.

Also, Ukrainian potatoes need certain marketing support in EU countries. After all, this is a product that is practically unknown to European buyers. For example, the Fruit Logistica exhibition is held every year in Berlin. Exporters from the countries of the Middle East spend efforts and funds to promote their goods on it. Therefore, sustainable and systematic export of Ukrainian potatoes to the EU is a matter of several years.

"But, of course, we should use the similar conditions that existed in the EU market last year. In the near term, this will give more real results," believes Ihor Chechitko.
