The month of November started with the prices of Spanish citrus fruits showing the same trends as in the last week of October, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in the Weekly Bulletin of Fruit and Vegetable Prices for week 44. Despite "prices following the usual patterns, declining as the supply increased, citrus fruits have again recorded some of the highest prices in recent years."
Oranges
The report shows that "following the strong increase in week 43, the price at origin of Navel oranges has dropped by 3.7%, coinciding with the arrival in the market of more varieties of this type. The price stands at 24.19 €/100 kg, which is 45.1% more than at this same time last season, while also exceeding the average by 16.7%. It is the 2nd highest price in week 44 of the last ten seasons."
"The price in the warehouse is also down by 9.2%, to 64.19 €/100 kg, which is 4.5% more than at this same time last season. It is also the highest price in the last four seasons."
Small citrus fruits
Meanwhile, the price of clementines "is down by 4.5%, to 41.22 €/100 kg, which is 17.8% more than a year ago and 34% above the average. At the warehouse, the price drop is greater (-23.6%), with 94.80 €/100 kg; however, this is still more than in the 2021/22 campaign (+2.3%), when the price was already high, and is also higher (+13.5%) than the week's average. In both cases, the price is the highest of the last ten seasons."
The Satsuma recorded a "drop of 1.5% at origin, standing at 21.75 €/100 kg, (-12% below last year's price at this time). However, the price in the warehouse is up by 4.4% and stands at 80.20 € / 100 kg, the highest level of the last ten years; up by 10% compared to 2021/22 and by 16.4% compared to the average," reports the MAPA.
Mandarins have also fallen, in this case by 5.9% at origin, "to 32.19 €/100kg; +9% compared to last season."
Lemon
As for lemons, there has been "another price drop at origin (-6.4%) in the case of the Fino, which has been sold for 43.81 €/100 kg. This, however, is still 32.3% more than in 2021 and 12.4% more than average. The warehouse price is also down, by 5.5%, and stands at 122.66 €/100 kg, which is 30.1% more than in 2021 and 12.4% above the average. In both cases, these are the best prices of the last four seasons."
