Australians visit LBP

Imminent market access brings Australian fruit exporters to the Netherlands

A fruit exporters and organizations' delegation from Queensland, Australia, is visiting the Netherlands this week. "They're here to learn more about how the Netherlands works as a production and trading country. But also to see how the Netherlands organizes its fruit and vegetable supply chain. In that context, they visited LBP Rotterdam," the company's Anton Filippo says.

Anton received the guests, presented LBP's services, and especially answered their many questions about the market and logistics. After that, they visited LBP's cold store, ripening rooms, and packaging areas. "An interesting visit, not only for the Australians." Earlier this week, to get a first impression, a visit to a handler at Schiphol Airport was on the program, as were several renowned supermarkets. That raised questions about the quality Dutch supermarkets carry.

"Australia and the Netherlands - the EU, in fact - are discussing market access for Australian fruit and vegetable and other sectors'  products. Market access is currently on the table with the Dutch government. That will have to be confirmed later in Europe. But everyone's optimistic and expect the green light sometime in mid- 2023. As part of this market access process, more similar missions to Europe and, particularly, the Netherlands should soon follow," Anton concludes.
