Georgian hazelnut exports 30% less in October

Hazelnut exports from Georgia for October 2022 is 30% less than the same period last year. Exports are worth $14 million in this period.

The reduction is due to adverse weather conditions that had an impact on volumes and quality. Usually lower volumes lead to increased prices, but the Russian war on Ukraine is causing global economic hardship.

The current harvest is around 32 000 tons, close to 2020 production levels with export prices currently also about 20% lower compared to the same year.
