ZON fruit & vegetables auction room relocated

In April, ZON relocated to an adjacent building in the Hines Fresh Park in Venlo, the Netherlands. Yesterday, the auction room moved to that new premises too. That means all of ZON's departments are now under one roof.

Growth
In late March, this Dutch cooperative launched a new auction system (incl. an online system) called KOSMOS. More people buy at ZON auctions every year. Yet the number of them physically present in the auction room has stayed almost unchanged for years.

Most buyers use ZON's online system - Webclock - or buy through a broker. That is partly why ZON's new auction room is smaller, with fewer buying workstations.

Auction sales
Auctions are one of the pillars of ZON's sale strategy. This public day trading tool has a year-round assortment tailored to the buyers' needs. The import season has now begun. ZON has been importing Spanish products in the winter for years. This year's tomato supply from that country is expected to be lower, so Turkish and Italian tomatoes will also be auctioned. ZON can, therefore, serve buyers year-round.
